About Us:
The Rotary Club of Northfleet with Ebbsfleet was founded in 1954.
Originally chartered as the Rotary Club of Northfleet, we
are Club No 793 in R.I.B.I. District 1120.
We are one of about 80 clubs in our District 1120, which covers
Kent, parts of East Sussex and South East London.
Rotary in Northfleet:
In 1954 a group of local people set up a Rotary club in our town.
The club originally had members from many local industries (cement,
engineering, paper making etc), but as these industries declined
along our river front, so our membership changed. We used
to meet at lunchtime for many years, but this changed to to evening
meetings a few years ago. We also voted to accept women into
Rotary membership, which is by invitation.
Current members represent many diverse backgrounds - eg, accountancy,
banking, dentistry, education, funeral service, industrial,
law, manufacturing, medicine, religion, retailing, transportation,
etc.
Rotary club members are a diverse group of business and professional
people who meet regularly for fellowship, to share ideas and plan
projects to address various local community and international service
needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world.
The Rotary Motto is: "Service above Self"
The Rotary Four-Way Test is:
Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIP?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
